We have lived in Misawa, Japan for the last 8 years, and will be here at least until the summer of '08. Before coming to Japan, we lived in Bad Aibling, Germany for three years, and before that we lived in Cheltenham, England. We haven't lived in the USA since 1989, when we left Maryland.
Alan is a mathematician, working for the US government. I have been a mom at home for most of our married lives. Besides raising eight children, I have been a Primary teacher, a Homemaking teacher, a member of the School Advisory Committee, a school field trip chaperone, and a school guest reader. At this time, I teach three weekly classes of English to Japanese kindergartners. I am learning some Japanese crafts. Someday we will move back to Utah to be near our families.
We own a student condo near BYU, where we stay during the summer vacations, and rent it to students for the rest of the year. So we can be reached sometimes at 724 West, 1720 North, #110 Provo, (801) 370-3310. The rest of the year, we will be in northern Japan. Yes, we have earthquakes, but not as bad as in Tokyo. We live between a lake and the ocean, but most of the year it is too cold for water sports. We have record snowfall, but not record cold. Misawa is a small community, like Orem was when we were young. It is a good place to raise a family.
